Audrey Robertson

A retired teacher, administrator, mentor, researcher, college instructor and entrepreneur. She has worked for 26 years in the fields of communication and 10 years in the field of public education. She holds a B.A. from Empire College (New York) M.S. of Education and Curriculum Design from C.W. Post L.I.U. (New York) and M.S. of Administration and Supervision and Staff development from the College of New Rochelle (New York). Ms. Robertson retired from Middle School 226 Q in District 27. Under the administration of Mrs. Bbia, Warren, principal she provided highly evolved professional development for teachers and administrators which broadly addressed "Culture -Rich language and mathematics development" for African American and disadvantaged students and parent workshops in Drug Awareness, Standards and teaching children how to read and do problem-solving math at home. Ms. Robertson enjoyed a faculty appointment at York College, Science, Engineering, Aerospace Academy, to instruct students aspiring to become astronauts, engineers, chemists, scientists, and teachers.


Her professional achievements entailed receiving the "Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 2003 2004 award for her ability and dedication in making a significant impact and difference in the lives of her students, the "Distinction Creativity Award, from Art Direction Magazine in 1993 and the "Desi Award for Excellence," from Graphic Design; USA for Sales Literature (for promotional design "Rap Pak,") also 1993. Her church affiliations includes; a Deaconess, Trustee, member of the Cultural Education Ministry, Christian Education Ministry, Samaritan Hands Women Outreach Program and Music Ministry.


Her community activities include memberships of Eta Phi Beta Inc. Epsilon Gamma Chapter, the NAACP (Life Member) which she is currently the president of the NAACP Far Rockaway Branch, Curriculum Development (ASCD), Minority Management, Member of the NYS Association of Black Educators and P.W.M., O.E.S and (N.Y.S.P.H.A) and presently Worthy Matron. She provides consultations to public and private groups on communication, school reform, applied mathematics and literacy intervention strategies for urban schools. She also volunteers at the Roy Reuther Senior Center, Advocate for American Cancer Society, and member of the Arverne Cancer Support group.


Her personal statement- I will seek to balance my family volunteer work and church as best I can because they are important to me. To inform and inspire children, parents, teachers, administrators, tutors, and childcare providers the importance of reading/writing and mathematics.


Her life work is to provide information, education, healthcare, economic development, civic engagement, criminal justice and much more. Her love for young people and belief in their achievement potential drives this commitment to collaborate with leaders and organizations in order to contribute to strong communities through education.
